SEEKING SENIOR PSYCHOLOGIST, P3 (FORENSICARE) TO WORK WITH WOMEN IN CUSTODY

Forensicare provides specialist mental health services at Dame Phyllis Frost Centre in the Marrmak Unit, a 20-bed residential program for women prisoners with an intensive outreach program and a therapeutic day program.

There is a strong focus on providing a healing environment not only for the prisoners, but importantly also one that supports the well-being and safety of all staff involved. This approach recognises that many women who are imprisoned are indeed themselves victims of crime and have challenging mental health conditions as a result. The word Marrmak is from the Woiwurrung language of the Wurundjeri people meaning ‘safe.’

About the role:

The Senior Psychologist provides a high level of clinical psychological expertise to Forensicare’s services at the Dame Phyllis Frost Centre. Marrmak provides integrated clinical forensic mental health services for women on the inpatient unit, as well as outpatients/outreach (women in mainstream and the protection unit). The senior psychologist provides high level consultation and advice on complex clinical matters, completes psychological reports for court as required and, contributes to special projects, committees and working parties within the organisation. As a senior professional representative, the position also provides consultancy and advice to other agencies and key stakeholders as required. 

Duties:

• Provides specialist psychological, psychometric assessments and reports where necessary.
• Provides individual and/or group interventions as appropriate. 
• Contributes to patient risk management plans in conjunction with the multi-disciplinary team.
• Provides discipline-specific contributions to clinical practice and to program development.
• Participates in the training and supervision of psychology placement students.
• Contributes to the ongoing evaluation of the program.
• Demonstrates a commitment to ongoing professional development and clinical supervision.
• Demonstrates a commitment to incorporating consumer and family/carer perspectives into service delivery at both an individual and organsation wide level.

Mandatory qualifications & registrations:

• Masters or Doctorate degree in Clinical Psychology from an APS accredited course or equivalent, OR, Doctorate degree in Forensic Psychology from an APS accredited course or equivalent.
• Registration with the Australian Health Practitioner Regulations Agency (AHPRA).
• The successful candidate will be required to register their qualifications on eCredential.

This position is subject to a Police Check.
