RESEARCH SCIENTIST

• $58,207 – $79,790 (plus superannuation)
• Fixed Term, 3 years
• Usual hours of work: Full Time (flexibility may be available)
• Usual work location: Ellinbank

In this position, you will undertake research activities within the DairyFeedbase program. Your focus will be research projects that aim to improve the profitability of pasture based dairy systems. This is achieved through innovative research, including the implementation of sensor technologies, and science excellence, supported by technical efficiency, business processes, technology adoption and knowledge management. You will also contribute to other associated dairy research projects and activities.  Your role will involve assisting in designing and implementing research within DairyFeedbase, with reporting on research, and preparing scientific publications and other written reports.

For appointment to this position, you will demonstrate –

• expertise in forage agronomy and dairy production systems;
• experience in implementation of sensor technologies for pasture measurements and the interpretation of generated information;
• experience in a research team environment, the capacity to work with minimal supervision and of demonstrating high levels of initiative;
• the ability to effectively communication research information to a range of audiences; and
• sound oral and written communication skills, and good interpersonal communication ability.
• A degree in Science, Agricultural Science, or an equivalent science qualification is required for this position.

The position of Research Scientist is part of the Agriculture Victoria Research Division’s Animal Production Sciences Branch in the Employment, Investment and Trade Group.
