An exciting opportunity is available for a dynamic individual to join the NSW State Emergency Service (NSW SES) in a key strategic role to lead the Information and Communications Technology (ICT) Directorate.

The NSW SES is an emergency and rescue service dedicated to assisting the community. It is made up primarily of volunteers, with 229 units located throughout New South Wales, comprised of approximately 10,000 volunteer members, increasing to 20,000. 

About the role 

The Director ICT leads and oversees the provision and implementation of the NSW SES ICT strategy and services to ensure that systems, services and products support the strategic and operational plans of the organisation and are consistent with Government IT initiatives and policies. 

The role provides high level leadership and specialist advice and develops strategic plans for ICT to ensure ICT systems meet the needs of the community during flood, storm, and tsunami incidents and support SES staff in their provision of services and day to day operations.

What’s critical is your ability to lead and inspire a multi-disciplinary team to
partner with volunteers, key stakeholders and members of the NSW community.  In summary we need: 

  • a senior business professional to develop the vision for the NSW SES ICT program and implement innovative strategic plans to enable the organisation to achieve its business objectives now and in the
    future;
  • a Director who can lead and influence the team to provide and support sophisticated ICT systems to support both business as usual and emergency management needs;
  • someone who is committed to the operational needs of the NSW SES and willingness to support operational exercises and events.
