About us

This is an exciting time to join the NSW Department of Industry. The Department leads the State government's contribution to support the growth of globally competitive and sustainable NSW industries to attract investment, increase trade and create new jobs.

The Lands & Water (L&W) Division is responsible for policy, planning, regulation, monitoring and evaluation of the State's surface water and groundwater resources and leads NSW government water management representation interstate and nationally. The Division also develops and delivers the strategy, policy and programs for the stewardship of Crown Lands for NSW. NRAR is a newly established regulator charged with developing and implementing best practice compliance and enforcement of water regulation in NSW.


About the role

As Director Regional Water Regulation (West- Murray Darling) you will lead the regional delivery of contemporary risk based regulation, including the assessment of complex licensing applications and approvals, and proactively monitor and oversee stakeholder referrals. You will also lead proactive regional compliance & enforcement campaigns, compliance monitoring, investigations and enforcement to ensure compliance with water legislation.


You will lead a team of water regulation officers to deliver operational and program activities of the region, including licenses and approvals administration.

About you

You will be an excellent communicator and have superior knowledge in water regulation in order to provide advice during the assessment process for contentious and politically sensitive projects while managing different and competing internal and external positions, stakeholder and community relations.


Additionally, you will also be an exceptional and proven senior leader with the ability to inspire, develop and influence the team at all levels and cultivate talent from within.
