Position Summary

Staff Specialist in Clinical Genetics

Permanent Fulltime 

We are looking for an experienced Clinical Geneticist to join our team. Above all, you will be committed to Excellence - every patient every time. Hunter Genetics provides clinical genetic services to the Hunter New England region, with outreach services provided to the western and northern parts of the State of NSW, Australia. 

Services are provided via multidisciplinary teams (20 staff approx.) including clinical geneticists, genetic counsellors and administrative staff. The services includes: The GOLD (Genetics of Learning Disability) Service, a state wide service and the General Genetics Service.

You will provide clinical genetic consultation to outpatients in the areas served by Hunter Genetics , inpatient consultation at John Hunter Hospital, John Hunter Children's Hospital and other local hospital. Outreach genetics consultation services are provided in Hunter New England region and Northern NSW also by Staff Specialists.

Applicants must hold a Medical degree registrable in NSW AND qualifications in Clinical Genetics equivalent to Fellowship of the Royal Australasian College of Physicians (RACP or other specialist recognition as provided for in the Staff Specialist State Award or Health

Insurance Act of 1973) with satisfactory completion of advanced training in clinical genetics.

The position provides a clinical genetics consultant service to outpatients in the areas served by Hunter Genetics, inpatient consultations at John Hunter Hospital, John Hunter Children’s Hospital and other local hospitals. Outreach genetics consultation services are provided in Hunter New England region and Northern NSW also by Staff Specialists.
