In July 2015, the NSW Government announced the formation of DPI Water, as a Division within the Department of Industry, Primary Industries. This announcement signalled a new direction and transformation for water management in NSW. The formation of DPI Water followed various reviews of the former Office of Water’s functions and how the business can be better structured to manage water in NSW.

The objectives of the DPI Water Division are to create a contemporary government water agency focused on:

  • Planning and Policy
  • Regulation
  • Information and Insights; and
  • Program and Performance

As a Water Regulation Project Officer with NSW DPI Water you will have a stimulating role with the opportunity to manage and support a broad range of policy and reform projects including operational policy and procedure development and legislative reform for water regulatory functions.

Your day to day activities will be varied and will include policy development, preparing reports and briefs, coordinating resources along with implementing and monitoring project plans to ensure milestones and objectives are delivered on time and to budget.

You will employ your excellent communication and interpersonal skills as you liaise with key stakeholders, meet with working groups and project leaders and gather data from a variety of sources to effectively monitor and maintain projects.

You will also thrive in a busy environment and enjoy the challenge of balancing tight deadlines and resources along with managing projects with competing priorities.
