In July 2015, the NSW Government announced the formation of DPI Water, as a Division within the Department of Industry, Primary Industries. This announcement signalled a new direction and transformation for water management in NSW. The formation of DPI Water followed various reviews of the former Office of Water’s functions and how the business can be better structured to manage water in NSW.

The objectives of the DPI Water Division are to create a contemporary government water agency focused on:

  • Planning and Policy
  • Regulation
  • Information and Insights; and
  • Program and Performance

 

As the Senior Project Officer Community Regulation Education with NSW DPI Water, you will have the opportunity to lead a program to deliver a range of water regulation education projects and activities to inform the community and enable high levels of voluntary compliance. The role partners with stakeholders to deliver education programs, delivering education resources and presents at education events to raise awareness and understanding of water regulation in NSW.

Your day to day activities will be varied and will include developing, implementing and evaluating a Community Education Plan which maximises the integration and effectiveness of community and stakeholder education activities with other water regulation activities. You will also be responsible for planning, researching, delivering and evaluating multiple priority education projects identified in the Education Plan to ensure they meet Plan outcomes and objectives.

You will also employ your excellent communication and interpersonal skills to identify and develop strategic relationships with key stakeholders to facilitate the delivery of water education programs. You will be responsible for developing user-centric, accurate, plain English education and communication tools, including web resources, electronic updates, publications, displays and events. Furthermore you will have a focus on sharing and transferring skills and knowledge to staff and stakeholders to support effective communication with the community.
