Design Manager

  • Apply your specialist technical knowledge to the design and delivery of TasWater’s capital projects
  • Provide expert advice and guidance on complex and high risk sewerage projects

The Opportunity

As the Design Manager working in the Major Projects department, you will be responsible for the planning and design of high risk, high value and complex infrastructure projects. You will provide specialist technical input throughout the procurement and delivery phases while ensuring that TasWater’s Corporate Plan objectives are executed.   

The Challenges

The Design Manager will:

  • Critically review strategy and planning documents produced by the Asset portfolio and planning division and provide consultation regarding infrastructure issues, identify project stakeholders and refine project strategic objectives, constraints and risks
  • Coordinate and oversee the preparation of business cases to identify preferred project options, and obtain funding approvals for projects
  • Be the first point of contact for all design issues through the life of capital projects involving sewerage assets; particularly those involving treatment plants
  • Support the delivery phase of major sewerage projects by providing process engineering input to the Major Projects team as required relating to project scope, specifications and design 

Who are you?

To be successful in this role you will have:

  • Tertiary qualifications in Engineering, Science or related disciplines
  • Proven expert knowledge of advanced sewerage treatment processes including physical, chemical and biological
  • A demonstrated understanding of the regulatory and standards frameworks that informs treatment plant design, operation, pumping and performance
  • Experience in the design management of new sewerage treatment plants or treatment plant upgrades and conveyance infrastructure
