Local Laws Officer
$77,352 plus 9.5% Superannuation + allowances
Maximum Term Contract up until 30 June 2022

How this position will Make the Difference to City of Melbourne…
Bring your exemplary customer service, strong stakeholder management and communication skills to this Local Laws Officer role. You will provide local laws, littering, smoking and parking compliance and enforcement which actively promote compliance and understanding of the Activities Local Law, Environment Local Law, Environmental Protection Act, Road Safety Act, and other legislation where applicable, for the safety and benefit of the community and visitors to the City of Melbourne.
You will proactively identify breaches of legislation and respond to requests for service with the relevant legislation, take necessary action to achieve compliance, issue appropriate compliance notices (including infringements) and, where necessary, participate in the prosecution of offenders in the courts. You will also play a key educational role within the community, and provide a high level of support to specific educational and enforcement campaigns.
This role would ideally suit someone who likes keeping active whilst working outdoors all year round.

•Excellent customer service skills and an ability to deal with customers at all levels in a tactful and courteous manner.
•Proven skills in written communication including the ability to prepare status reports, statistical information, and recommendations for improvements to processes, procedures and methods of work.
•Demonstrated skills in conflict resolution and the ability to remain calm, objective and in control when dealing with customer issues and concerns.
•Sound computer skills including ability to use customer databases, the Microsoft Office range, including Word, Excel, PowerPoint and Outlook, and other technologies used in compliance and enforcement activities.
•Possess and maintain a current driver’s licence that permits the licence holder to drive on Victorian roads.
