What you’ll do: 

  • Drive overall program delivery through active management of key project gateways from project initiation to project completion to ensure that the flow of projects released, the velocity of project delivery and the resources required to deliver are sufficient to meet  
  • program goals. 
  • Create and update portfolio and program look ahead and communicate with key stakeholders to identify risks, opportunities and constraints. In conjunction with key stakeholders facilitate and negotiate approaches to obtain required outcomes. 
  • Identify opportunities to improve delivery efficiency (including project bundling, alternative delivery mechanisms, innovative technologies etc.) and develop program performance measurement metrics, advise on emerging risks and opportunities and provide recovery advice as required. 
  • Improve the existing risk management practices at the project delivery level in parallel to building a consolidated and coordinated view of risk at the Operations portfolio level. 
  • Conduct regular portfolio and program reviews to assess the performance, alignment with strategic goals and governance assurance. & assist in project prioritisation process and continuously review and improve program and portfolio management process and methodologies to enhance efficiency, effectiveness, and alignment with organisational objectives. 

What we are looking for:  

  • Minimum 10 years of relevant experience working in similar roles in a construction or utilities environment with extensive experience in project portfolio management and governance of portfolios, with prior experience in a similar role focused on project capital budgeting, planning and forecasting
  • Bachelor’s degree in a business-related discipline and a project management related qualification or equivalent experience 
  • Demonstrated experience with project management methodologies, systems, tools and processes and how these are practically used in a PMO or Project environment (e.g. MS Projects, Primavera P6, Acumen D365, Power BI) 
  • Have a robust working knowledge of resource demand and capacity planning models, tools, and strategies 
  • Prior experience working in and to price regulated businesses and understanding of financial and budgeting principles
