An exciting opportunity is now available for an experienced motivated, enthusiastic and highly organised Manager Surface Water Assessment to join the Department of Environment and Natural Resources’ Water Resources Division.

The Manager Surface Water Assessment works under the direction of the Director Water Assessment, to lead, coordinate and deliver surface water assessment projects and programs, including advising on surface water potential to ensure sustainable development and to provide expert flood and storm surge risk management and modelling advice and flood forecasting services across the Northern Territory to inform land use planning and emergency management decision making in the Northern Territory.

The Manager Surface Water Assessment will contribute to the scoping and delivery of water assessment projects and programs to extend and develop the understanding of water resource capabilities, risks and capacity in the Northern Territory to meet Government’s priorities and commitments, including provision of technical and policy input into evaluation of surface water hydrological components of Notices of Intent, Environmental Impact Statements, Public Environmental Reports and Development applications.

Applicants will have a good understanding of NT hydrology. They will be adept at developing outputs based on limited data sets where knowledge of fundamental principles and application to very remote and poorly understood basins will be challenging.

This role will be highly rewarding to those interested in working in almost entirely unregulated water environment and playing a key contribution to planning for ecologically sustainable surface water development now and into the future.
