The County Court of Victoria is the principal trial court in the State of Victoria. The Court hears and determines criminal, common law and commercial matters. Our 70 Judges hear more than 12,000 cases per year across the three divisions. The County Court is committed to continuous improvement in accordance with the International Framework for Court Excellence.

The Law Reform and Policy Team is seeking an experienced and skilled Legal Policy Officer to join their team for twelve months.  The role will report to the Manager, Law Reform and Policy and will work primarily on formulating responses to proposed legislative reform.  It coordinates the courts response to Judicial reviews and undertakes whole of court policies in identified priority areas.

To succeed in this role you will exhibit a knowledge of civil and criminal law, including court-regulated legislation, public administration, governance and current issues in the law.  A demonstrated knowledge of Cabinet processes and Government decision-making processes as well as the capacity to develop expertise in legal analysis, including areas relating to statutory interpretation and government decision-making is highly desirable.  

A tertiary qualification in law together with an unrestricted practicing certificate is also essential.
