The County Court of Victoria is the principal trial court in the State of Victoria. The Court hears and determines criminal, common law and commercial matters. Our 70 Judges hear more than 12,000 cases per year across the three divisions. The County Court is committed to continuous improvement in accordance with the International Framework for Court Excellence.

This role sits within the Court's Research Unit and provides high-level specialist research and analysis support to Judges and Judicial Registrars. Reporting to the Manager, Policy and Law Reform you will be required to undertake complex legal research into areas of the County Court's civil jurisdiction and produce timely and accurate advice for Judges and Judicial Registrars.

Working collaboratively with various areas of the Court you will address legal problems and questions that may arise in the course of judgement writing or hearing a matter, research complex legal questions, analyse case law and assist in the development of tools and resources.

To succeed in this role you will exhibit exceptional conceptual and analytical skills with a particular ability to analyse complex policy and legal issues, interpret legislation and provide high-level, accurate advice. A demonstrated ability to prepare well-written, timely, concise, accurate and audience-appropriate briefings and advice is essential. A tertiary qualification in law together with an unrestricted practicing certificate is also essential.
