Koori Research and Engagement Coordinator, Jurisdiction Services

This position is an initiative of the Victoria Aboriginal Justice Agreement.

The aim of the Koori Research and Engagement Co-ordinator will be supporting the manager in leading key projects in relation to the Aboriginal Justice Community Reporting and also be responsible for actioning consultation and research aligned to AJA4 Aboriginal Caucus aspirations in relation to Koori Court on Country and Elders and Respected Persons roles in sentencing, along with collating data to inform the future growth of Koori programs at Court Services Victoria.

The Aboriginal (Koori Programs and Initiatives) Unit, is responsible for providing consultancy, advisory and education services that increase positive engagement with the Victorian Aboriginal communities and other stakeholders to deliver effective court initiatives.

This includes providing details advice and guidance to staff within Victoria's courts and tribunals about working in the justice environment, providing education and skills development to staff, informing and influencing policy and legislation regarding outcome for Aboriginal people, managing the secretariat and associated actions for the Aboriginal Justice Forum, and consulting with the Aboriginal community.

The Koori Research and Engagement Coordinator will be responsible for supporting the Manager along with leading several key projects to include research in relation to Aboriginal Justice Community Reporting overseeing a Working Group representative of community and government stakeholders. The role will also be responsible for actioning consultation and research aligned to AJA 4 Aboriginal Caucus aspirations in relation to Koori Court on Country and Elders and Respected persons role in sentencing, along with collation data to inform the future growth of Koori programs and Court Services Victoria.
