Job description:

Metro are currently looking to appoint a Management Accountant to join our central Finacne team. Reporting to the Financial Reporting Team Leader, you will partner with the business to provide financial support, enhanced decision making and maximise outcomes on business issues to ensure timely and accurate reporting of the financial results of the business. Part of this role will be to Implement and improve MTM's financial policies, procedures and processes and ensure compliance with the Franchise, Projects and Infrastructure Agreements. You will also act as the key support to the Financial Controllers, Finance Managers and the delivery areas of the business.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Processing accruals and finalising month end and year end accounts
  • Ensure integrity in the P&L by ensuring that all journals posted are complete, accurate and substantiated
  • Ad hoc analysis of spends/ maintenance of various reports
  • Labour processing management
  • Ensure audit queries are responded to in a timely manner, including compliance audits by Public Transport Victoria
  • Preparation of monthly balance sheet reconciliations
  • Implement and improve the company's financial policies, procedures and processes as require

In order to be successful you will possess the following;

  • Tertiary qualification in Accounting
  • Working towards CA/CPA qualification
  • Demonstrated business partnering experience
  • Ability to cope with competing demands and a significant volume of work
  • Experience and knowledge of key accounting concepts
  • Familiarity with financial reporting systems, management information systems and computer based systems
  • Experience in the preparation and collation of financial information
  • Proactive in looking for continuous process improvements
