An exciting opportunity has arisen for an experienced Senior Town Planner to join a well known organisation with the NSW Government sector as a Principal Planning Officer.

As the Principal Planning Officer, you will take a lead role in the assessment of complex major development projects within State significant sites to meet statutory obligations and Government policy objectives. You will also be responsible for driving best practice and innovative processes to meet Government goals.

Key Duties

• Assess the merits of the more complex State significant projects quickly and effectively to ensure the completion of all assessments within set deadlines.
• Build and maintain effective relationships, and strengthen engagement with key stakeholders to provide information, respond to enquiries and resolve disputes effectively.
• Participate in business improvement initiatives including the development and maintenance of team systems, policies and business process to improve operational efficiency and effectiveness.
• Identify complex, sensitive and emerging issues, and review and develop policy to improve the assessment process and guide the assessment of the merits of projects.
• Assist the Team Leader in the coordination of the day to day activities of an assessment team and provide advice and support to junior staff.

Skills & Experience

• Degree in environmental science or management, engineering, planning or other relevant discipline
• Demonstrated high level knowledge of relevant environmental assessment and planning legislation and processes
• Willingness to travel and (minimum) Class C Driver’s License
