NSW Health Pathology are seeking an enthusiastic Operations Manager who will contribute to the operational management of the NSW Health Pathology East service, specifically in the Camperdown, Canterbury and Concord area and also across all of the East area and where necessary be  involved with work across NSW  Health Pathology statewide.
 
The Operations Manager role at NSW Health Pathology East is one of three roles across the region.  It is a new position working across hospitals located in Camperdown, Canterbury and Concord to support the Director of Operations in managing both this area and working collaboratively across all of NSWHP East.
 
This is an exciting opportunity for the successful candidate to build this role with the Director of Operations East.
 

Where you'll be working

NSW Health Pathology East is responsible for providing pathology services for people living in the Sydney Local Health District (SLHD) and South Eastern Sydney Local Health District (SESLHD).  The position will be primarily based at Royal Prince Alfred Hospital, Camperdown but will be required to work with staff at Canterbury and Concord Hospitals.

What you'll be doing

The Operations Manager is responsible for ensuring efficient, timely, financially and clinically effective laboratory operations and the delivery of high quality locally responsive diagnostic and consultative services. This includes oversight of the quality, cost and operational integrity of the laboratory(ies), regulatory compliance and accreditation, human resource and business management and the optimal use of resources.

The position will also work closely with the Director of Operations and other Operations Managers overseeing projects both locally and across all of East to support new and ongoing initiatives to build a better pathology service for our patients.
 
This position is a permanent position. To be eligible for permanent appointment to a position in NSW Health, you must have an Australian citizenship or permanent Australian residency. Please note: A person who is not an Australian citizen or a permanent resident is only eligible for temporary employment for a period not longer than the duration of their current visa.
 
An eligibility list will be created for future permanent full time / part time, temporary and casual vacancies. 

  1. Tertiary qualifications in health administration, management or related discipline and/or equivalent experience at the senior level
  2. Proven leadership and management skills including operational, budget, staff and resource management and capacity to manage human, financial and physical resources effectively and efficiently to ensure budget and performance targets are met.
  3. Superior interpersonal, communication, negotiation and influencing skills with the ability to develop and maintain strong collaborative relationships with internal and external stakeholders and interact professionally with a diverse range of people at all levels.
  4. Demonstrated ability to lead the local implementation of strategic and organisational priorities and deliver multiple outcomes within tight timeframes while maintaining a high standard of service.
  5. Highly developed understanding of pathology professional standards and regulatory/compliance frameworks including quality management, laboratory quality assurance, accreditation and patient safety.
  6. Ability to exercise sound judgment/initiative, manage issues, make complex decisions and operate independently within delegated responsibility.
  7. Demonstrated commitment to the provision of excellent customer service and motivating staff to deliver high quality diagnostic, consultative and administrative services within the context of the NSW Health Pathology's RITE values.
  8. Demonstrated knowledge of pathology Laboratory Information Systems.
