Forensicare is the statutory agency responsible for the provision of adult forensic mental health services across Victoria.
This position is located within Forensicare's Prisons Service which works administratively across several locations with offices in Fairfield, Clifton Hill and Northcote all 15 minutes from Melbourne’s CBD.

 About the role

Forensicare has been nominated by the Victorian Government to become the provider of specialist Forensic Mental Health Services at Port Philip Prison from September 2017 under a contract with G4S Correctional Services. This position will lead the planning, coordination and implementation of the transition project for this change which will involve close collaboration with the existing provider, St Vincent's Correctional Healthcare.

 Duties:

  • Lead the Transition Project in consultation with senior staff.
  • Oversee planning for recruitment and transition of staff.
  • Develop an Operations Manual for the new services.
  • Participate in interface meetings with G4S and St Vincent’s.
  • Develop key communications for critical stakeholders.
  • Ensure training and orientation for staff.
  • Ensure policies and procedures are developed and in place.

Skills and experience

You will need to:

  • Have experience in project management within the public health or government sector.
  • Have the capacity to problem solve, source, analyse and report information.
  • Be able to build and maintain effective working relationships with internal and external stakeholders.
  • Have highly developed written communication skills across a range of outputs and audiences.
  • Possess relevant tertiary qualifications in mental health or a related field.
