Head of People & Culture

We are looking for a bold and collaborative Head of People & Culture who is interested in joining two leading NSW Government agencies focused on creating a living future for the past for Sydney's past and maintaining our states records, collections and archives. 

What the opportunity is: 

  • Employment with Sydney Living Museums, NSW Department of Premier & Cabinet
  • Clerk Grade 11/12 - $164,206. Package includes salary ($128,089 - $148,134), employer's contribution to superannuation and annual leave loading.
  • Temporary full-time employment (for a period up to 3 years)
  • The role will be based at The Mint in Sydney's CBD and Western Sydney Records Centre, Kingswood but will also be required to work across other locations as directed.
What we do
Sydney Living Museums (SLM) cares for a group of 12 of the most important historic houses, gardens and museums in NSW on behalf of the people of NSW.

Our commitment to our audience is to maintain the museums, landscapes and collections with integrity whilst presenting the narrative of each in contemporary, compelling and relevant ways.

Our purpose is to enrich and revitalise people’s lives with Sydney’s living history, and to hand the precious places in our care and their collections on to future generations to enjoy.

Our partner - The State Archives and Records Authority of New South Wales (NSW State Archives and Records) is one of Australia’s pre-eminent Archives and Records Authorities with a vast collection of historical records and archives dating back to the European settlement of Australia in 1788. With responsibilities for the development, preservation and access for the State’s archives, NSW State Archives and Records is also responsible for managing and storing over 650 kilometres of semi-permanent Government records for NSW public sector offices.

This role provides strategic direction and leadership to design, deliver, implement and continuously improve People and Culture services.

What the essential requirements of the role are: 

  • Broad understanding of general public sector management, the machinery of NSW Government, political processes and Ministerial requirements, with a specific knowledge of issues and trends in NSW.
  • Knowledge of applicable WHS legislation including interpretation and practical application.

  • Extensive experience in implementing strategic HR plans and solutions, improving organisational performance and productivity in order to meet business objectives.

  • Current NSW Driver’s licence.

  1. Please provide an example of where you have led and implemented strategic HR planning including details of any roadblocks or resistance to change. What was the issue, how did you continue to progress the plan and overcome the issue and what was the outcome?
  2. Please provide the details of a project you have managed including identification of the project, your specific role, stakeholder management and outcome.
