The Facilities & Asset Management team is a key contributor to all accommodation strategies and planning of functional spaces across the Museum. This requires the capacity to be collaborative, nimble and responsive to support both commercial and public facing initiatives of the museum whilst balancing the risk that a repurposed heritage site presents in terms of safety and infrastructure demands.
 
The purpose of this role is to lead, manage and coordinate the Museum’s provision of building services and lead the overall facilities management program to ensure infrastructure and service delivery is maintained at the optimum level, supporting the Museum’s core functions, particularly in daily operations, exhibition construction and maintenance and capital works programs.

To be eligible to apply for this role you must meet these essential requirements

  • Degree in engineering or building discipline with demonstrated competence in the fundamentals of building design, documentation, construction and maintenance.  
  • Working knowledge of asset and facilities management practices and standards necessary to Museums and public / exhibition venues, Building Codes, WH&S regulations and risk management strategies, public sector procurement requirements, accounting and budgeting procedures and engineering and building construction and maintenance procedures. 
  • Demonstrated strong working knowledge of and experience with the technical details of building fabric, structure and engineering services within major public and heritage building environments and an understanding of standards and practices within a museum environment. 
  • Demonstrated experience in identifying, contracting, liaising with and managing consultants and contractors in the delivery of planned, reactive and capital maintenance works, and with networking and developing contacts within the building industry and cultural organisations. 
  • Demonstrated strong written and verbal communication skills with a capacity to understand architectural and engineering documentation and appropriate computer literacy. 
  • Demonstrated team building skills and experience, and success with leading and managing a harmonious team, including understanding individual’s strengths and weaknesses and coaching them to realise their potential. 
  • Strong knowledge of WHS legislation and principles to ensure a safe working environment.
