Management Accountant 

The opportunity

We currently have a full-time opportunity for a Management Accountant to join QIC’s Business Finance team in Brisbane.

Reporting to the Business Finance Manager this role is truly at the front line of where the decision making happens for the front office asset areas and will require you to assist in the very important strategic planning for each business unit, by providing general support including variance analysis, reporting, identifying trends and benchmarking. You will have the opportunity to participate in the development, review and implementation of policies, procedures, tools and reporting frameworks to support accurate, timely and compliant financial reporting of financial performance.

You will be exposed to a wonderful variety of work covering technical financial requirements that includes analysis and reporting to identify and optimise financial performance. You will be supported by a great team, to prepare and monitor individual business unit budgets, ensuring appropriate forecasts and targets are reported, periodic reporting, identifying key financial risk and compliance issues and establishing strategies with which to manage these risks.

The ideal candidate

As a strong candidate for this role you will have a core understanding of the financial operating model and how the internal pricing model works to assist in business queries and drive financial outcomes. You will assist the Business Finance Manager in the monitoring and evaluation of cost savings and revenue growth initiatives.

In addition, you will possess:

  • Degree in commerce, accounting or related field
  • 2 – 4 years’ experience in an accounting role (management accounting experience highly regarded)
  • Experience in reporting, financial modelling and analysis
  • Technology One experience or similar systems highly regarded
  • Enthusiasm, project management capabilities, accountability, decision making ability and strong interpersonal skills
  • Interest in studying towards or completion of formal accounting qualifications CPA or CA highly regarded
  • Problem solving and analytical skills
  • Well-developed verbal communication and writing skills
  • Strong focus on client outcomes
