About the role: 

At the State Netball Hockey Centre, we're passionate about creating exceptional experiences in sports and entertainment We are seeking a highly skilled and experienced Operations Manager to join our team at the State Netball Hockey Centre (SNHC). As a key leadership role, the Operations Manager will be responsible for overseeing all aspects of venue operational management and delivery, ensuring the highest standards of service, safety, and customer satisfaction. Key responsibilities will include:

  • Operational management of the venue, maintaining high standards and exceeding client and customer expectations
  • Management of the delivery of State, National, and International events at SNHC, ensuring quality and standards promised are met
  • Assisting with bidding and negotiation of large-scale events with the Events & Bookings team and Event Operations Manager
  • Communication of event requirements and impacts to internal and external stakeholders.
  • Leadership and management of the SNHC Operations team
  • Recruitment, training, and development of staff to deliver operational and customer service standards
  • Effective and timely management of risk, occupational health, and safety across the venue.
  • Sound financial management of associated expense budgets and on costs related to events and bookings
  • Performance of Quality Assurance activities in the implementation of Operational Risk & Safety and Procurement systems
  • Collaboration with SSCT operational department leaders to align processes and procedures.
  • Leading a culture of innovation, safety, presentation, and care at the highest standards

Required skills and Qualifications: 

  • Significant relevant experience in a senior operations role, ideally within a venue/sporting environment
  • Significant people leadership experience across functions including operations, event management, and customer service
  • Demonstrated stakeholder management, communication, and negotiation skills
  • Sound knowledge of Health and Safety and Risk Management principles and practices
  • Experience in the delivery of quality customer service and client management
  • Extensive knowledge of the industry and competitors with an active external focus
  • Operational understanding and application of quality assurance systems.
  • Excellent written and oral communication skills
