About the role

Reporting to the Manager, Customer Services, the position of Events Coordinator is responsible for organising and delivering engaging and memorable functions and events that meet Scitech's mission and maximise business objectives.  

This role is part of the Shared Services Team and will work collaboratively across the organisation to ensure Scitech delivers memorable and engaging experiences for our visitors and encourage further participation in science, technology, engineering and mathematics. It provides administration and logistical support for fundraisers, corporate functions, Scitech Events and birthday functions. This is a full time position as part of a rostered team, Monday to Friday with occasional after hours and weekend availability required. 

Customer Event Planning

• Plan, organise and deliver visitor oriented events for Scitech visitors including fundraisers, functions and partner events.
• Liaise with external customers to understand their needs for their events and deliver against those needs in line with Scitech's operational capacity.
• Maintain and utilise effective systems to promote, book, organise, communicate and deliver corporate functions and fundraisers.
• Report to, communicate with and update relevant stakeholders on event progress.
• Work closely with Engagement and Partnerships to deliver quality events that meet the needs of Scitech's corporate partners.
• Maintain event equipment for all Scitech events.
• Build on relationships with suppliers to ensure successful delivery of all aspects of a Scitech event
• Improve systems by identifying opportunities for streamlining processes and maximizing efficiency.
• Provide exceptional customer service when dealing with Scitech's customers and staff.

Event Supervising 

• Ensure effective systems for communicating event information and details to event supervisors.
• Supervise a small team of Science Squad staff to deliver visitor orientated, high impact and rewarding functions through excellent customer service and passionate science communication.
• Be a role model to other Science Squad staff, inspiring exceptional customer service that engages the interest of visitors and customers by making them feel welcome and excited about their visit.

Skills and experience

• Tertiary or TAFE qualification in event management and/or communications
• Working with Children Check (or willing to obtain)
• Experience in coordinating events, STEM events preferred
• Demonstrated customer service experience
• Experience working with children and diversity within the community
• Passion and interest in STEM
