Senior Media and Communications Officer

An exciting opportunity exists for a media and communications professional to join a dynamic and fun team to provide senior management, support and advice at a high level in the areas of media liaison, internal and external communication and public relations activities for NSLHD.

Where you'll be working
You will be working with the Media and Communications Team based at St Leonards. 

What you'll be doing

You will be responsible for planning, developing and implementing communication opportunities to generate and promote awareness of the organisations goals and objectives and protect the reputation of Northern Sydney Local Health District (NSLHD).  

As part of the Media and Communications Team, the position includes events management, writing engaging content for internal and external audiences through a variety of communication channels.

Candidates will need to meet the following criteria:       

  1. Consistently demonstrates behaviours that reinforce the CORE Values of our organisation; Collaboration, Openness, Respect and Empowerment. Demonstrates these behaviours with all stakeholders; colleagues, direct reports, as well as our patients and consumers, and those that care for them.
  2. Tertiary qualifications and experience in public relations, communications, journalism and/or significant other relevant experience.
  3. Knowledge and experience in media management, issues management, preparation and writing of media releases, media statements and managing events including, planning, organising and staging.
  4. Experience in the development and implementation of communication strategies, both internal and external.
  5. Knowledge of social media tools and responsible use in a health/government environment, and an ability to create effective social media content, drive website and intranet content development across a variety of departments in NSLHD.
  6. Demonstrated highly developed interpersonal skills, ability to work independently, liaise effectively with staff, volunteers, community and patients/consumers as well as the government and corporate sector.
  7. Strong communication and presentation skills (written, verbal and electronic) across a wide variety of communications materials.
  8. Effective organisational and time management skills, ability to work in a busy environment, handle multiple tasks, set priorities and meet deadlines
