What you'll be doing

The EDWARD Project Manager will facilitate the implementation of the EDWARD Data Warehousing (EDW) in NSLHD, supporting a multi-phase program to transition from the use of Health Information Exchange (HIE) to using EDW.

The transition involves a migration of several data streams from the source systems to new data warehouse and updating reporting and analytics to use new data structure. To ensure a successful transition, the LHD requires a detailed, structured change process incorporating project and change management, process analysis, redesign, communication and training across the LHD. 

The project manager is responsible overseeing the LHD's various roles in the transition to ensure a successful transition. The role is designed to be the bridge between the many parties involved, as well as tracking progress against the detailed timeframe and providing relevant stakeholder updates.

The role requires extensive project management and negotiation capabilities to implement the EDWARD Data Warehousing system effectively.

This position requires high-level initiative, judgement, leadership and decision making skills to achieve the smooth transition of the EDW in NSLHD. This role will facilitate the generation of ideas, opinions and discussions that influence the direction taken by the project through to completion. The project manager will have the capability to understand the technical details of current data collection and data storage processes, and plan for changes after the transition.

This position works closely with EDWARD Business Implementation team in Ministry of Health, Northern Sydney IM&T, and eHealth.

The role will report directly to the Principal Systems Analyst in the Performance Unit, and also the EDWARD Project Team.

Employees must abide by the NSW Health Code of Conduct. Criminal record checks will be undertaken on successful applicants and applicants for positions designated as Category A will be required to obtain required vaccinations prior to commencing employment. 

Candidates will need to meet the following criteria:

  1. Consistently demonstrates behaviours that reinforce the CORE Values of our organisation; Collaboration, Openness, Respect and Empowerment. Demonstrates these behaviours with all stakeholders; colleagues, direct reports, as well as our patients and consumers, and those that care for them.
  2. Demonstrated knowledge of data warehousing. Knowledge on health data and health data analytics is highly regarded.
  3. Tertiary qualification in Computer Science, Information Management or Project Management and/or extensive experience IT Project Management within a large organisation.
  4. Demonstrated experience in IT project management and the implementation of a project within a complex and diverse organisation.
  5. Excellent organisational skills and experience of working in a demanding professional environment with a capacity to prioritise, multi-task and work with a customer focused approach.
  6. Excellent written and oral communication skills with experience in change management documentation and strong negotiation skills to positively influence stakeholders.
  7. Ability to work under pressure to meet deadlines and to work independently as well as part of a team and to understand and adhere strictly to principles of confidentiality and to ensure the integrity, reliability, accuracy of data and data systems.
  8. Demonstrated ability to develop strong working relationships with stakeholders to ensure they continue to be engaged in the implementation and perform tasks in the required timeframes.
