THE DEPARTMENT
The Alfred Emergency and Trauma Centre is part of the Alfred Hospital, a leading quaternary referral hospital in metropolitan Melbourne, Victoria Australia. It is Australia’s busiest Trauma Centre, providing state of the art Trauma management, Emergency ECMO, and caring for many other state-wide services such as Burns, Heart and Lung transplantation, Cystic Fibrosis, Haematology and Hyperbaric Medicine.
The Pharmacy Department works closely with patients, their family and other health services to provide excellent service in the area of medication. Our departments' priorities are to provide information on medication safety, cost-effective use of medication for patients and deliver specialised pharmacy expertise at important points of a patient's recovery or treatment process. The Pharmacy Department at Alfred Health provides a dynamic and innovative clinical pharmacy service to ensure Alfred Health patients receive the best pharmacy care possible. THE POSTION
The Senior Clinical Pharmacist-Emergency Medicine is a clinically focused leadership role. Working closely with the Lead Pharmacist, Emergency Medicine they will assist in the provision and management of a comprehensive and advanced clinical pharmacy service to the Alfred Emergency and Trauma Centre (E&TC) in association with the strategic priorities across extended hours.
This role includes management, mentoring and supervision of primarily junior pharmacists rotating through the E&TC and undergraduate student placements, intern rotations and postgraduate student placements. The post holder would be required to contribute to medical, nursing, allied health and pharmacy staff education in addition to collaborative multidisciplinary research within the E&TC and the pharmacy department.
