Finance Business Partner - M&OP Venue and Corporate Teams

About the role

We are excited to be recruiting for a Finance Business Partner in our fast-growing team to support our people and their strategic goals. Reporting directly into our Financial Planning and Analysis Manager, this is a role that acts as a true partner to our busy teams and will make a significant impact to the way we commercially run our business.

This is an amazing opportunity for an organised and collaborative finance professional in the market for something a bit different to a purist accounting role. If you have exceptional management accountancy skills with a passion and skill for consulting internally then this could be your perfect next step.

Please note: We're re-opening applications for this role for a 14 day period - so if you're interested in joining us please submit your details asap! Interviews will commence from week commencing 19th February

The successful candidate will be a trusted advisor, providing invaluable financial support to our venue and events teams. As one of two finance business partners, you will be aligned to events and venues and some major projects, assisting in decision making by providing quality financial reporting and analysis.

Here are some of the diverse things you'll have the opportunity to be involved in:

  • You'll work closely with our commercial and venue management teams providing quality financial guidance and support
  • You'll support major events (think Australian Open!) as a dedicated finance resource through the preparation, delivery, and settlement phases
  • You'll work closely with our key stakeholders across the business with a focus on establishing strong and sustainable relationships so you can improve effectiveness, efficiencies, and quality of all outcomes
  • You'll provide key insights, analytical review, and guidance to support team's precinct-wide achieving best practice benchmarks when it comes to the quality and accuracy of capturing their financial information
  • As our new FBP you'll be responsible for delivering monthly venue and event related performance reports and financial analysis; this will include things like commentary and insights to uncover the main event drivers
  • You'll also engage with and refine financial models to facilitate effective event estimates and venue related costs to assist numerous stakeholders with decision-making across the organisation
  • You will play a critical role in the preparation and delivery of reliable financial forecasts, budgets, and multi-year financial planning
  • You will support the completion of finance event settlement by ensuring venue and event revenue and costs are in line with contract terms
  • You will deliver supporting analysis of final settlement against event estimates and support venue management with hirer queries
  • You'll of course also work closely with the wider finance team to contribute to the function's success too, as well as the organisation's strategic vision

What you will bring to the role:

  • Innately, you are driven for 'better'. You have a continuous improvement lens and tend to naturally look for better ways of doing things, whether it's in the task you're doing or how you're doing it
  • From a process perspective - efficiency is your end goal. You get a kick out of spotting how things could be streamlined, faster, better, easier, or more cost effective!
  • You are a keen collaborator and love building strong relationships across various stakeholder groups
  • You have great communication skills and one of your superpowers is that you make finance topics easy to understand
  • You're comfortable presenting and communicating financial information to individuals and groups and feel confident responding to questions from a diverse employee base
  • You've always demonstrated exceptional customer service, and this translates to your internal clients too, you're available to them and integrity is one of your strongest values
  • You have a pro-active approach to problem-solving and get a kick out of helping find solutions that move the dial for your stakeholders and the broader business
  • You have a passion and interest in working in the events and venue management space; while you may not direct experience in the same industry, you understand the challenges and you're excited by it
