The Stream Clinical Director – Specialist Mental Health Services for Older People (SMHSOP)  is responsible for providing senior medical leadership, mentoring, advice and direction in relation to all community and inpatient Specialist Mental Health Services for Older People across the Illawarra and Shoalhaven Local Health District (ISLHD), in addition to taking a role in developing and maintaining clinical governance of these services.  The position will work with and alongside the Mental Health Service Director, Service Clinical Director, Operations Manager and the Director of Nursing; in addition to the Service Manager and Nurse Unit Manager to provide, within available resources, services that deliver effective, efficient and high quality service that meets the needs of patients, their families and the community. The incumbent will be a Staff Specialist Psychiatrist and active clinician, who will contribute 2 days per week towards the medical leadership / clinical governance role and 3 days per week of clinical time. Assessment methods will include measuring consumer and carer satisfaction, creating value, and effective delivery of Key Performance Indicators (KPI). 

The Stream Clinical Director – Specialist Mental Health Services for Older People will be a member of the ISLHD Mental Health Executive and Governance structure.

The position will have line management responsibilities for all Medical Officers employed in the Mental Health Service for Older People community and inpatient services of the ISLHD Mental Health Service.
