About the role…

The Taronga Training Institute Manager is responsible for leading and managing the Taronga Training Institute (a Registered Training Organisation) to support Taronga’s strategic objectives.  The position is also responsible for the design and implementation of quality training that is responsive to learner, Taronga and industry needs. The Taronga Training Institute Manager reports to the Manager, Tertiary Programs and Business Development in the Taronga Zoo-Operations Division.

The key accountabilities of the role include:

  • Lead and manage the Taronga Training Institute team to deliver high quality operational services.
  • Lead and manage the Taronga Training Institute to ensure compliance with the VET Quality Framework, Australian Skills Quality Authority and relevant legislative instruments.
  • Lead and manage the Taronga Training Institute to achieve financial sustainability including through identification of national and state funding programs.
  • Manage the development and alignment of training programs with the Australian Qualifications Framework, industry standards and best practice guidelines.
  • Manage the design, development and implementation of consistent, high quality training and assessment strategies that align with Taronga’s objectives.
  • Manage the marketing and promotion of courses including the development of communication material.
  • Represent Taronga at external forums and develop and maintain networks nationally to support the strategic development of training throughout the wildlife conservation and tourism industries.
  • Undertake accredited training and assessment activities including delivery and facilitation as required.

About you…

We are looking for candidates that have:

  • A TAE40116 Certificate IV in Training and Assessment.
  • Demonstrable experience of management within a Registered Training Organisation.
  • Experience managing compliance with the VET Quality Framework, Australian Skills Quality Authority and relevant legislative instruments.
  • Obtain and maintain a current paid NSW Working with Children Check at own expense.
  • Obtain and maintain a current Senior First Aid Certificate.
  • Experience in the Animal Care and Management industry is not essential but will be considered favourably.
