Course Coordinator, Certificate III

 

  • Based in either Sydney, Dubbo, Melbourne, Perth or Adelaide 
  • Part time role; 3 days per week  
  • Temporary Contract until November 2026 
  • TCSA Salaried Award, Clerk Grade 5,  (including base salary $93,295 pro rata + 11% superannuation) 

The successful candidate will be joining at an exciting time as this RTO continues to grow in the online space, interstate and with further course offerings. This is a rare and unique part time role (3 days per week). Due to the interstate focus of this role, the successful candidate can be based at their chosen location: Taronga Zoo Sydney, Taronga Western Plains Zoo Dubbo, or alternatively in Melbourne, Perth or Adelaide!   

  • Flexible Hybrid work model - Taronga supports a blend of in-office and remote working. 

About the Role… 

The Course Coordinator is responsible for quality course coordination of the Certificate III in Wildlife and Exhibited Animal Care course across the country. The position is responsible for leading a team of Student Support Officers and the Training Coordinator, as well as contributing to the continuous improvement and quality processes to ensure the Taronga Training Institute (TTI) - RTO Code 91359, adheres to vocational education standards. The position reports to the TTI Manager within the Taronga Zoo Tertiary Education team. 

Key Accountabilities… 

  • Oversee and manage the daily operations of the Certificate III Wildlife & Exhibited Animal Care team 
  • Uphold the training quality, integrity and compliance of the course in collaboration with the TTI Manager and wider TTI team, through continuous improvement and quality processes 
  • Manage and supervise the Certificate III Wildlife & Exhibited Animal Care team, including conducting regular meetings, task allocation, setting of deadlines, ensuring consistency of end-to-end processes and monitoring of performance  
  • Respond to higher level student enquiries and conduct meetings with students to discuss deferrals / withdrawals / complex concerns including complaints and misconduct 
  • Provide support to the Certificate III Support Officers on complex student training plans that require adjustments  
  • Provide support to the Training Coordinator on Trainer scheduling issues as required 
  • Work with the TTI Manager to ensure industry currency of Trainers & Assessors and ensure sufficient trainers are employed to deliver the course in all locations 
  • Provide support to the Certificate III Support Officers and Training Coordinator on any challenges with logistical planning for practical assessments at interstate sites 
  • Drive improvement of operational systems, procedures and best practices to enhance efficiency and effectiveness in consultation with the TTI Manager 
  • Support the TTI Manager and Tertiary Products Manager to identify and implement expansion of the existing course and new business development opportunities as required  
  • Work effectively as a member of a high performing team to assist Taronga in its achievement of strategic outcomes 

About You… 

We are looking for candidates that:  

  • Have demonstrated experience in managing, supervising or coordinating a team 
  • Have demonstrated experience working in an RTO and knowledge of the Australian vocational education system 
  • Are willing to obtain and maintain a current paid NSW Working with Children Check at own expense. 
  • Have the following preferred qualifications / experience:  
  • TAE (If not held, it is encouraged to complete the current TAE while in the role) 
  • TAE40116 Certificate IV in Training and Assessment or its successor OR 
  • TAE40110 Certificate IV in Training and Assessment, plus the following units:  
  • TAELLN411 (or its successor) or TAELLN401A, and  
  • TAEASS502 (or its successor) or TAEASS502A or TAEASS502B 
  • Experience in zoo keeping and animal management (recent or current) or ACM30321 Certificate III Wildlife and Exhibited Animal Care. Note, this is not required, however, will be looked on favourably.
