What you'll be doing
The vision for South Eastern Sydney Local Health District (SESLHD) is ‘exceptional care, healthier lives’. SESLHD is committed to enabling our community to be healthy and well, and to providing the best possible compassionate care when people need it.

This is a multi-disciplinary position open to Clinical Psychology, Psychology, Occupational Therapy and Social Work.

Headspace Bondi Junction have been provided funding from Central & Eastern Sydney PHN to provide Psychological Support Services to young people with moderate illness who are not critically suited to lower intensity levels of intervention, including self-help, digital mental health services, and low intensity mental health services funder through other arrangements such as MBS.

In addition to this, focus of the Psychological Support Services (PSS) is on:

  • young people who have attempted, or are at risk of, suicide or self-harm
  • underserviced young people such as Aboriginal & Torres Straight Islanders, Culturally & Linguistically Diverse and Lesbian, Gay, Bisexual, Transgender, Intersex and Questioning and those at risk of homelessness
  • In some cases, young people with severe mental illness may benefit from short term, focused psychological interventions as part of their overall care.
This clinician will provide high level clinical consultation and advice to clinicians (both salaried and contracted staff) to build capacity and ensure the delivery of high quality youth mental health and drug and alcohol services. 
The position will be actively involved in quality projects, clinical research and the development and provision of targeted education. The position will also provide advice to support strategic and operational planning for the clinical services.

Please note this position is employed by South Eastern Sydney Local Health District (SESLHD) who is the lead agency for Headspace Bondi Junction.

Selection Criteria

  1. Qualifications in accordance with Schedule C of the NSW Health Service Health Professionals (State) Award including registration with AHPRA for those with psychology background. Other Clinical roles can include Social Work and Occupational Therapy.
  2. Extensive post graduate clinical experience in youth mental health or related areas.
  3. Excellent negotiation, decision making and advocacy skills including the ability to interact constructively and collaboratively with a diverse range of stakeholders, throughout all organisational levels
  4. Proven ability to provide high level clinical advice and education to enhance service delivery and to guide and support others in providing service excellence.
  5. Demonstrated experience in developing service integration policy and shared care documents
  6. Ability to work as part of a multi-disciplinary team and to apply independent professional judgment when dealing with situations of a complex nature.
  7. Ability to initiate, lead, complete and share quality improvement initiatives and service evaluation processes and lead ongoing quality improvement activities with other staff.
  8. The Mental Health Professionals must have completed the following training before providing PSS Services: a. Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander Cultural Competency; and b. Suicide Prevention Training
