We are a primary resource and supporter of the Barrbunin Beek Aboriginal Gathering Place and we seek guidance from the Banyule Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander Advisory Committee (BATSIAC).

 The Role

 As the Aboriginal Community & Social Planner you will be working with a small team, strongly committed to diversity and cultural safety. You will work alongside our Reconciliation Projects Officer to support and strengthen Council's Aboriginal & Torres Strait Islander strategies and services including extending project support to the Barrbunin Beek Aboriginal Gathering Place in Heidelberg West.

Over the first 12 months, a considerable part of the workload of the Aboriginal Community and Social Planner will be to implement the new Barrbunin Beek Governance Structure and work to develop and implement the Barrbunin Beek Strategic Plan

Key Responsibilities

• Support the implementation of the new Barrbunin Beek Governance structure and the appointment of a Barrbunin Beek Committee of Management with working groups.
• Develop and support internal and external partnerships focusing on Aboriginal community and stakeholder engagement.
• Support the development of projects to improve inclusion, access and equity, and community and social wellbeing for Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander people.

You will have

• Strategic planning and program experience to demonstrate achievements, understanding of and commitment to community and social planning, and with Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander communities.
• Experience in writing submissions and securing funding in grants.
• Degree or diploma in social sciences or related field and some relevant experience or lesser formal qualifications and substantial experience in field of specialist expertise.
• Extensive experience and a high level of cultural competency working with Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander people and developing Aboriginal community programs or projects.
• Experience with partnership development, and working with Committees of Management
• Proven experience in project management.
• Highly developed communication skills, both oral and written

• $84,825.51 - $92,220.59 plus super.
