About the Role

The Manager leads the Executive and Ministerial Services function, providing leadership to the delivery of a substantial and diverse Government affairs portfolio, setting the strategic direction to ensure the delivery of a range of written material and of initiatives to optimise alignment with Government's strategic objectives.

Key knowledge and experience

  • Establish and drive an effective governance process to receive and submit all requests from, and to, Government.
  • Direct the development of strategic evidence-based Government briefs for external stakeholders, ensuring alignment with previous content/messaging.
  • Direct the overall performance of the function by setting expectations, performance goals and standards and measures to deliver high quality, well researched and constructed propositions and outcomes.
  • Manage the Executive and Ministerial Services professionals in prioritisation, development, implementation and review of a program of brief development activities and initiatives to effectively deliver against requests supporting the machinery of government.
  • Represent the Agency in consultations and negotiations with key external stakeholders, including other government jurisdictions, to optimise outcomes for the Agency.
  • Provide timely, strategic, expert and authoritative advice to the Executive Leaders to enable fully informed evidence-based strategic recommendations and decisions.
  • Collaborate to deliver effective governance within the Agency and more broadly across the Cluster as a key participant in critical planning and decision making processes which underpin strategic goals and outcomes.
  • Lead and enhance strategic long term partnerships and consultative working relationships with key industry/community stakeholders to ensure that all perspectives and implications are considered in formulation of recommendations.

Employment Conditions

  • The successful applicant will be appointed under the terms and conditions of the Health Managers (State) Award and will be required to enter into the annual Performance Development Program.
  • The successful applicant may be required to undertake duties at the other centres should the need arise.
  • No Ambulance accommodation is provided.
  • No entitlements to Transferred Employees Benefits (TEB) is provided
  • Completion of NSW Health Mandatory Training courses is a mandatory requirement for all NSW Health and NSW Ambulance employees applying for this position.
  • Appointment to this position is subject to a satisfactory conduct and services check including referee/supervisor check, a review of National Police check and review of the Service Check Register. A review of excess annual and sick leave, PDP status, ability to undertake full duties of the position and clearances from Professional Standards Unit, Ambulance Education Centre and Infection Control.
  • Employee’s currently undertaking an ECP or ICP consolidation period are eligible to apply however will need to complete all training and return of service obligations before accepting any relief/acting opportunities.
  • Employee’s currently undertaking a SOT consolidation period are not eligible to apply for positions other than SOT positions. This includes positions offered via merit selection, transfer lists or later transfer mechanism, expressions of interest or secondments.
