The position of Manager Waterway Safety & Compliance forms a part of the Maritime Safety Team within Transport Safety Victoria.

The Manager Waterway Safety and Compliance reports to the Deputy Director, Operations and is responsible for leading and managing a team accountable for the delivery of a comprehensive suite of regulatory activities related to improving waterway safety outcomes across Victoria and compliance and investigations activities in relation to Victorian and National marine safety law.

The position is a key member of Maritime Safety's leadership team, and is responsible for providing high level leadership and management to the Waterway Safety Compliance Team and broader maritime branch. The position provides expert advice to the Deputy Director, Operations and Director, Maritime Safety, Departmental Secretary, Ministers and other key senior stakeholders, to improve safety outcomes though compliance, education and capacity building activities based on identified risks, deficiencies and opportunities.

The position will use its specialist expertise and strong leadership and policy development skills to implement transformational change across Victoria's waterway managers in regards to their competency and capacity for managing risk in a highly complex and politically sensitive environment.
