The Opportunity
We have an exciting opportunity for a Program Leader, Agronomy to be part of the South Australian Research and Development Institute within PIRSA. The role reports to the Research Director, Crop Sciences.

The Program Leader, Agronomy is part of the Crop Sciences Research Division within the South Australian Research and Development Institute (SARDI).  The Program Leader, Agronomy is responsible for program’s science direction, and to enhance SARDI’s national reputation as a key research provider.

The Program Leader, Agronomy is responsible for fostering and enhancing research and development outcomes which will contribute to SARDI’s role of leading and conducting innovative research on cropping systems for the benefit of South Australia. The Program Manager, Agronomy is expected to work effectively across science programs and research divisions to provide leadership and undertake research that is multidisciplinary and adopts a systems approach to the research.

The Program Leader Agronomy is responsible for managing and leading the Agronomy program at SARDI which spans research on cereal, pulse and pasture cropping systems including weed management and soil amelioration. The Program Leader will be responsible for management of science and technical staff.

The Program Leader, Agronomy will be the leading spokesperson on agronomy research, liaise with key industry and state government stakeholders. The incumbent provides leadership and mentoring to staff and students within the Program.

Special 

  • Interstate and intrastate travel and some out of hours work, weekend and public holidays travel will be required.
  • PhD in Agricultural Science or related field, and extensive research experience in cereal agronomy is highly regarded.
