(Remove as necessary) South Australian Research and Development Institute (SARDI) provides research and development services to the state government, commercial clients and research partners to help make South Australia’s primary industries and regions internationally competitive and ecologically sustainable. SARDI’s programs are designed to increase the productivity, sustainability and adaptability of the state’s agriculture, food and wine, fisheries and aquaculture and bioscience enterprises, create opportunities for market growth, address barriers to growth and provide applied solutions.

Duties: The New Variety Agronomy (NVA) SPA underpins plant industries across South Australia and nationally by focused research and development activities in the areas of crop agronomy, breeding and variety evaluation (wheat, barley, oat, triticale, peas, beans, lupins, lentils chickpeas, canola).  The NVA SPA consists of a team of experienced professionals with recognised expertise in crop agronomy and other science disciplines linked with state and national collaborative networks. It presently comprises 24 professional and technical support roles. The group is geographically dispersed in South Australia, with research activities based at the Waite Institute, Port Lincoln, Clare, Struan, Minnipa and Loxton Research Centres and projects commonly address regional, state and national issues. This position is based a Naracoorte.

Special Conditions:  Interstate & Intrastate travel will be required. Some out of hours work will be required during harvest and other periods of peak work demand.  A current driver’s licence is essential.

Essential Qualifications: Bachelor Degree in Agriculture or equivalent.
