South Australian Research and Development Institute (SARDI) provides research and development services to the state government, commercial clients and research partners to help make South Australia’s primary industries and regions internationally competitive and ecologically sustainable. SARDI’s programs are designed to increase the productivity, sustainability and adaptability of the state’s agriculture, food and wine, fisheries and aquaculture and bioscience enterprises, create opportunities for market growth, address barriers to growth and provide applied solutions.

The Program Leader, Food Safety and Innovation, ensures the timely delivery of high quality research outcomes to Government, industry clients and the community. In this role, the incumbent will identify opportunities, conceive and develop major State and national programs and oversee their development and have exceptional conceptual and analytical skills, including problem solving, which produce outcomes of critical impact. The Program Leader will display excellent communication skills to engage with a variety of stakeholders and represent the Food Safety and Innovation Science Program. In this capacity, the occupant will lead the Food Safety and Innovation Science Program including managerial administration and oversight of the budget of the Program, supervising a multi-disciplinary work unit including supervision of professional and/or technical staff and provide mentoring and development of junior staff.

ESSENTIAL QUALIFICATIONS

A relevant degree in food science or technology, with post-graduate qualifications or equivalent experience is required.

SPECIAL CONDITIONS

This is a contract / term vacancy up to 28/03/2020. Some out of hours, weekend and public holiday work will be required. Intrastate, interstate and international travel will be required. A current Class C driver's licence and a willingness to drive is essential. Applicants who previously applied for Vacancy No. 2017-18073, need not re-apply.
