Manager Stakeholder Engagement and Communications

The Legislation, Policy and Information Services Division (LPIS) develops and maintains the laws administered by WorkSafe.  LPIS provides strategic policy advice on OHS and Workers Compensation issues and contributes to national policy forum. The Division also develops codes, guidance and information materials to support duty holder compliance with Victoria's OHS and workers compensation legislation.

About the role

The Manager, Stakeholder Engagement and Communications is responsible for defining, developing and implementing effective stakeholder engagement and communications to support the activities of the Legislation, Policy and Information Services Division. 

The successful candidate will be responsible for developing and subsequently driving acceptance of a variety projects and initiatives with a broad range of external and internal stakeholders.  Previous demonstrated experience operating in a similar landscape is preferred.

Key Responsibilities

  • Managing the development and implementation of an effective strategy for engaging stakeholders throughout the life of any legislative reform projects
  • Developing, managing and maintaining effective internal and external stakeholder relationships
  • Monitoring and evaluating the effectiveness of stakeholder engagement and communications strategies
  • Providing leadership and strategic advice on the process and content for stakeholder engagement and communications
  • Managing the development and implementation of communications materials
  • Identifying and managing stakeholder issues, risks and opportunities, providing proactive and reactive advice and support across the Division and other areas of the business 

Skills & experience

  • Demonstrated significant experience liaising in a professional manner with a diverse stakeholder group including senior management, employer groups, unions and internal stakeholders
  • Exceptional formal communication skills (written and verbal) and a demonstrated eye for detail
  • Ability to undertake effective research and analysis and produce accurate briefs and material
  • Experience in developing communications plans, messages and materials. Excellent ability to build effective working relationships, with highly developed influencing and negotiation skills
  • Ability to undertake effective research and analysis and produce accurate briefs and material
  • Excellent time management, prioritisation and organisational skills and an ability to meet tight deadlines
