Project Co-ordinator - Regulatory Improvement - Local Government Pilot

This position will lead and support regulatory process improvement projects that will contribute to the delivery of the Local Government Environment Protection Officer (LGEPO) Pilot program committed to by the Government in response to the independent Inquiry into EPA. The pilot aims to trial models for embedding LGEPOs, authorised under the Environment Protection Act, within Councils.

A job to make a difference

The LGEPO recommendation is aimed at EPA in partnership with Local Government being more responsive to pollution reports and pollution incidents in our local communities. A new localised layer of environment protection can provide a timely and more effective response to small scale local pollution and waste issues that may otherwise go unattended. This will provide a level of enhanced protection for the community and support liveability and prosperity.

As part of a small team focused on the design, development and delivery of a best practice, blended learning program for LGEPOs, you will collaborate across the organisation to codify regulatory processes for the pilot through appropriate documentation (e.g. policies, procedures, guidelines etc.). To do this you will need to closely collaborate with the existing Operations Capability team to utilise and adapt pre-existing documentation to ensure an integrated approach, as well as developing fit-for-purpose solutions specific to LGEPOs.

A key part of the role will be building and maintaining great working relationships with a broad range of internal and external stakeholders to identify linkages in work practices, develop operational policy, foster holistic learning programs and contribute to a learning culture.
