Public Accounts & Estimates Committee

About the Role

Reporting to the Executive Officer, you will manage the Public Accounts and Audit team and assist overseeing the Committee's functions.  

You will lead the Committee's inquiry into Gender Responsive Budgeting which will consider how gender equality can be promoted through the budget process.

You will support the Committee in its oversight of both the Victorian Auditor-General's Office and Parliamentary Budget Office, and lead inquiries that follow up on Auditor-General performance audits. Such audits cover every aspect of how public money is spent on services and infrastructure.

In this role, you will work closely with the Lead Analyst, Budget Estimates and Outcomes to support inquiries into the budget estimates, and financial and performance outcomes of the Victorian public sector.

This is an ideal opportunity for an individual with a proven ability to draw on up-to-date technical expertise and research to offer proactive, practical and contemporary advice.

About You

You will have experience in managing and leading a team which produces and publishes research for a non-technical audience.

Your communication and interpersonal skills will be a strength, particularly your success in establishing and maintaining stakeholder relationships and to strategically inform and influence the work of the committee.

You possess superior analytical skills and a problem solving capacity that extends beyond a compliance based approach.

You will be tertiary qualified in public policy, humanities, law, accounting, commerce/business or a related field, and have an understanding of Australian and Victorian auditing and ethical standards, legislative and regulatory requirements.
