Head, Online Marking and Testing Support
 

The Board of Studies, Teaching and Educational Standards (‘BOSTES’) is a statutory authority responsible for the curriculum, assessment, teacher accreditation and regulatory standards in NSW schools (Kindergarten to Year 12). The BOSTES is also responsible for developing policies and initiatives for evaluating and improving student learning performance across all schools and school sectors.  
 
From 1 January 2017 BOSTES will be known as the NSW Education Standards Authority (‘the Authority’), an independent statutory authority responsible for the curriculum, assessment, teacher accreditation and regulatory standards in NSW schools, and accreditation of early childhood educators. The Authority is responsible for developing policies and initiatives for evaluating and improving quality teaching and student learning across all schools and school sectors in response to the need to adopt a more strategic and outward-looking focus, greater clarity of regulatory roles and responsibilities, and streamlined processes and systems.
 
We are looking for a Head, Online Marking and Testing Support who will be responsible for managing the team which supports the technical administration and operations of the BOSTES online marking and testing systems in NSW as well as marking systems interstate and overseas. 
 
To be successful in this role you will need to demonstrate your immediate proficiency in the focus capabilities as highlighted in the role description. All the capabilities listed in the role description will be assessed at different stages of the recruitment process. This assessment will determine your suitability for appointment and may assist in identifying any learning and development needs for you to reach your full potential in this role. 
 
You must also possess the following essential requirements:
*     Experience in management of Application Support and Quality Assurance of software applications. 

*     Experience in management of service delivery to government and commercial clients.

Q1:     What are the steps you would take to ensure that your responsibilities in relation to Service Level Agreements are met? What initiatives would you introduce to exceed service expectations of your clients?
 
Q2:     Please give an example of how you introduced business process innovation in implementing a new application for a client. What were the risks associated with the implementation and what were the benefits achieved?

Under new employment legislation all current and new Public Service non-executive employees are employed at a classification level and assigned to a role rather than appointed to a position. Employees may be re-assigned to other roles at the same classification over time, in line with organisation priorities and/or personal development plans.
