Senior Advisor, Workplace Relations 

Ambulance Victoria (AV) is seeking an experienced Senior Advisor Workplace Relations to join our People and Culture Division. This is a full-time, permeant opportunity, located at our Headquarters in Doncaster, however the successful candidate will initially work full-time from home during current COVID restrictions.

About the role

Reporting to the Lead Workplace Relations, the role will provide professional, authoritative industrial relations advice and direction to the AV Executive and managers. Representation and advocacy at the Fair Work Commission on behalf of AV will also be a requirement. The role entails the prevention and resolution of disputes and grievances, union consultation, performance management processes and termination of employment.  In addition, the key responsibilities will include but are not limited to:

  • Liaising with specialists, including coordinating and providing authoritative written and verbal advice on complex and challenging industrial and employee relations matters
  • Identifying and responding to new and emerging industrial issues
  • Representing the People and Culture Division at meetings with external stakeholders including Government Departments and unions
  • Providing support, advice and education to People and Culture Leads and Partners regarding the appropriate policies, procedures and industrial provisions for handling disputes and negotiations.

About you

You will have a relevant qualification in Industrial Relations, Human Resources, or equivalent work experience.  This will be supported by your extensive track-record in providing concise and accurate industrial relations advice on a range of matters. Your ability to translate complex industrial relations legislation into plain English, and prepare comprehensive documents, such as business cases, supported by strong verbal and written communication skills, will be critical. Experience in policy development would be viewed favourably, in addition to Workplace Relations project work.

You enjoy working in a fast-paced, dynamic and cohesive team environment, where your solid interpersonal, negotiating and influencing skills will assist you to build and maintain effective working relationships and gain the support and cooperation of others. Your problem-solving skills, together with your attention to detail, are coupled with well-honed judgement and the ability to work independently.  Your ability to think on your feet and interpret an Agreement underpin your previous success in industrial relations.

The successful candidate will have a current Victorian Driver's Licence and will, if required, travel throughout metropolitan Melbourne and regional Victoria.  Successful applicants will also be required to make a Statutory Declaration and undertake an Australian National Criminal Check in conjunction with other pre-employment checks.

AV has introduced salary bands, and this position is graded at an AV5.  The salary range for an AV5 position is $119,839 to $141,669 per annum plus 10% superannuation. The expectation is that employees will commence at the base of the grade.
