We are seeking an experienced Cyber Security Architect for this full-time, fixed term position (ending 30 June 2026) based at Blackburn North with hybrid work options available. 

About the role 

Reporting to the Senior Program Manager Cyber Security, this position is responsible for information and cyber security architecture, providing strategic critical expertise ensuring the success of AVs cyber security strategy, the annual security improvement program and supporting the security design of solutions for the technology area and business-led projects. 

Responsibilities include (but are not limited to): 

  • Provide expert security architecture advice to ensure security designs and standards are maintained in a professional and mature manner, in line with defined government legislation and frameworks, vendor best practice and relevant industry cyber security controls
  • Supporting security requirements associated with AV's service transition to production, including ensuring that service transition planning, change management, change evaluation, release and deployment management and service asset and configuration management have security requirements imbedded and are all performed as per AV's security standards and requirements
  • Supporting AV Information and Cyber Security Service Design, including defining service catalogue items, Availability Management, Capacity Management and Design Co-ordination
  • Supports the senior manager with identifying and mitigating AV's information and cyber Security risks and issues
  • Champions AV's security architecture initiatives and technologies with stakeholders and peers to ensure AV successfully leverages improvements that drive efficiency and whilst reducing risk
  • Model high level of architecture attributes and consultation to develop and maintain trusted, credible, and effective relationships at all levels of the division, wider organisation and external stakeholders 

About you 

The successful candidate will be tertiary qualified in a relevant discipline (preferably at post graduate level) together with relevant experience in government, industry, health, or emergency services. Additional requirements include: 

  • Completion of a postgraduate degree or relevant industry certification with extensive relevant experience, or an equivalent combination of training and high-level relevant experience (preferably in cyber security, computer science and/or information technology)
  • Relevant information Security industry certification such as CISSP, CISM, GIAC, CEH, SABSA or equivalent relevant experience working in a cyber security.
  • Expert knowledge architecting and implementing solutions to meet major security frameworks and controls, including CIS, NIST, ISM and, ACSC Essential 8
  • Significant experience in designing solutions in the following areas, Data Loss Prevention, Vulnerability Management, SIEM, Patching Management, Identity Management, Network segmentation, Cloud Security, Network Access Control, Firewall Management, Intrusion Detection, Web Application Firewalling.
  • Experience in providing security architecture advice to support enterprise cloud migration and establishing secure landing zones with mature cloud polices as well as Azure Native Security Services
  • Experience with Microsoft Applications (e.g. Microsoft 365 Mobility and Security solutions, Microsoft Azure, Azure DevOps, Azure Repos/GIT, Azure Pipelines, CI/CD, ARM Templates, BiCep files)

Hybrid working options are available however it is essential that the successful applicant maintains a presence at our headquarters in line with our Hybrid work model.
