Ambulance Victoria (AV) is currently recruiting an Advisor, Workplace Relations as a maternity leave replacement until 2 September 2019 in a full time capacity based in our Doncaster office.

Apply your strong advisory skills and take a lead role in the provision of advice and support to a range of senior stakeholders regarding the prevention and resolution of disputes and grievances, union consultation, performance management processes and terminations.

The Workplace Relations team provides expert advice and support to the various departments of Ambulance Victoria across the following areas: Workplace Relations, Industrial Relations, Grievances and EEO.

About the role

Reporting to the Lead Workplace Relations, this position is responsible for (but not limited to):

  • Provide support and advice to managers and the Executive in the prevention and resolution of industrial disputes and grievances
  • Devise dispute resolution strategies
  • Prepare comprehensive documentation relating to employee relation issues
  • Liaise with legal advisors and specialists regarding specific industrial relations issues
  • Research and investigate queries from managers, employees and unions relating to employee relations issues
  • Develop and implement policies and procedures to support the effective management of employee relations issues
  • Implementation and facilitation of consultative committees to ensure communication and consultation between managers, employees and their representative union

About you

The successful incumbent will possess a tertiary qualification in Industrial Relations (IR), Human Resources, or equivalent work experience dealing with complex and sensitive employee relations issues. Your ‘hands on' working experience will include presenting as an IR advocate before the Fair Work Commission with solid negotiation skills to handle complex industrial relations matters. Your sound understanding of the current IR framework coupled with your capacity to make sound decisions under pressure, provide strategic employee relations advice and maintain a high level of integrity is crucial.
