Freedom Of Information Officer

Ambulance Victoria (AV) is currently recruiting a Freedom of Information Officer (FOI) in a part time capacity (15.2 hours per week across 2 days), based in our Wendouree office.

About the role

The Freedom of Information Officer is responsible for processing requests in accordance with the Freedom of Information Act 1982 and AVs legislative obligations.

The position includes but is not limited to the following key activities:

  • Ensure compliance with the Freedom of Information Act 1982
  • Provide timely advice and assistance to staff and the public in relation to administering FOI
  • Exposure to dealing with detailed and confidential material
  • Liaison with Victoria Police, the Coroners Court of Victoria, lawyers and other entities and individuals in relation to requests for documents and subpoenas
  • Process requests, make informed decisions and ensure legislative requirements are met and adhered to
  • Maintain awareness and compliance with AVs guidelines to continuously improve standards of service and maintain all files and records in an accordance with AV standards

About you

To be considered for this position you will ideally have previous experience in a
Freedom of Information role or  knowledge of the Freedom of Information Act (Vic). Previous work experience in a legal environment will be highly regarded, however is not mandatory

It is expected you will have excellent written and verbal communication skills, time management, attention to detail and customer service skills. You will also need to possess a high level of confidentiality and sensitivity to your work.
