To meet its challenges the City is seeking an experienced planning professional to lead an area based team of development assessment planners, and be part of the team delivering high quality outcomes for Australia’s Global City.
The City of Sydney deals with in excess of 2,000 applications a year, many of which are applications for major urban renewal and CBD development. You will manage and lead a team responsible for the assessment and resolution of complex planning, urban design, heritage, traffic and environmental issues associated with development within a defined geographical area of the City.
To be successful you will be highly skilled and have tertiary qualifications, at degree level in Urban Planning, Architecture, Urban Design or a related discipline. Proven ability to manage and lead a team of planners in charge of a heavy caseload of applications so as to meet strict deadlines and to balance and respond flexibly to competing priorities is required.
You will have a high level of experience in dealing with development applications, preferably the assessment of applications within a local or state government environment, experience and skills in the Land and Environment Court in terms of preparing evidence and appearing as an expert witness. You must also have highly developed written and oral communication, report writing and presentation skills and demonstrated proficiency in urban design and heritage. A strong customer focus is also required.
