About the role

Reporting to the Group Executive Customer & Corporate Affairs, as the Senior Manager Strategic Brand & Marketing, you will play a key role in positioning Queensland Rail as a modern, world-class and customer-focused rail service. 

Managing a team of 3 direct and 15 indirect reports, this newly created role will lead the development, launch and evolution of Queensland Rail Group’s corporate and lines of business narratives and supporting frameworks to increase awareness both internally and externally. Using storytelling, this role will build the brand and reputation of the organisation, in support of our vision of connecting communities through a modern, world-class rail service. This new and exciting opportunity for a Senior Manager Strategic Brand & Marketing is for an 18 month fixed term period.

As the Senior Manager Strategic Brand & Marketing, you will:

  • Develop and lead the launch of Queensland Rail’s corporate narrative to build brand relevance, enhance reputation, grow patronage and strengthen Queensland Rail’s position as an employer of choice.
  • Partner with the Regional and SEQ businesses to build an overarching communications and engagement strategy and plan to deliver critical business outcomes.
  • Create and deliver a compelling internal communications strategy, keeping employees informed, engaged and connected to the Queensland Rail brand, strategy and values.
  • Apply contemporary and innovative marketing and branding strategies to promote Queensland Rail’s brand, purpose and organisational values at a state and national level.
  • Act as a subject matter expert and lead the Marketing & Design team to continually improve Queensland Rail’s branding, templates, materials and communications collateral for both internal and external purposes.
  • Lead the planning and delivery of effective integrated communications solutions through partnering relationships with the Senior Manager Corporate & Government Affairs, key senior internal staff and external stakeholders.
  • Lead and manage the Strategic Brand & Marketing team, building engagement and driving high-performance.
About you
  • Extensive knowledge of contemporary frameworks and methodologies to develop and launch effective and engaging corporate narratives and communication strategies.
  • High level of skill to develop internal messaging that motivates employees to align with the future vision of the Queensland Rail business and collectively work to achieve desired outcomes.
  • Extensive knowledge of contemporary frameworks to develop goals, strategies, measures and expectations, as well as the demonstrated ability to think strategically to upskill and influence Senior Leaders in the appropriate use of communication strategies and tactics.
  • Exceptional level of oral and written communication skills with an eye for detail and a particular focus on writing and/or editing complex strategic messaging and use of all media.
  • High level of influencing, interpersonal, consultation, relationship building and negotiation skills that build and sustain productive relationships and partnerships.
  • High level of conceptual thinking, problem solving and decision-making skills.
  • Extensive proven senior people leadership and change capability as evidenced in a complex organisation.
