A unique opportunity is presented to apply for the 2020 Hyperacute Stroke Fellow within the Department of Neurology at the Royal Adelaide Hospital. The RAH is SA’s sole comprehensive stroke service, and averages around 1200 stroke admission per year, one of the largest patient cohorts in Australasia. Around 250 thrombectomy and 150 thrombolysis procedures are performed each year, and the RAH is one of Australia’s biggest contributors to stroke research, recruiting strongly to local, National and International Stroke trials.

It is essential that you hold a Bachelor of Medicine, Bachelor of Surgery (MBBS) or equivalent and be registered with the Medical Board of Australia as a Medical Practitioner with General Registration. You will have completed Basic Physician Training and will demonstrate the ability to communicate confidently and appropriately with patients and their family/relatives. You will possess sound knowledge of contemporary medical practice and procedures appropriate to the position, complementing your ability to work under pressure. In addition to proven competency in a range of routine and common procedural ward-based skills, you will be a demonstrated problem solver. You will be supported in devising and complete a stroke research project in your year. Subsequent higher degree by research opportunities will ensue.
