The Western Australian Department of Regional Development and Lands has released a discussion paper for public comment detailing proposed tenure options for the rangelands under its Rangelands Reform Program.

The Rangelands Reform Program has received $2.25 million in funding through the State Government's Royalties for Regions program.

The paper discusses how the existing pastoral lease system works under the Land Administration Act 1997 and tables new options being proposed, such as rangelands lease, perpetual pastoral lease and new diversification permit provision.
