The Victorian State Government has announced the formation of the interim Local Government Ministerial-Mayors Advisory Panel with the appointment of five mayors drawn from the five council groupings in the state.

"The members of this Panel will provide high level strategic advice on the range of legislative, regulatory, strategic and policy decisions that impact on and require a partnership between the state government and local government,” State Minister for Local Government Jeanette Powell said.

The MMAP members are:

  • Cr Robert Doyle (Melbourne) representative of inner metropolitan councils;
  • Cr Sue McMillan (Knox) representative of outer metropolitan councils;
  • Cr Helen Patsikatheodorou (Hume) representative of interface councils;
  • Cr Michael Ryan (Horsham) representative of regional cities; and
  • Cr Neil Pankhurst (Campaspe) representative of rural councils.

"The Ministerial-Mayors' Advisory Panel will also serve as an important conduit of communication between councils with quite different needs and challenges," Mrs Powell said.

Mrs Powell will chair the meetings of the panel.
