The Victorian Premier is wondering what will happen to Gonski reforms in his state, following last night's political upheaval.

Dr Denis Napthine had been in discussion with Julia Gillard over a plan for Victoria to contribute $3.5 billion to its education secotr, to be matched with $7 billion from Federal coffers.

With Gillard now gone Dr Napthine is unclear on the Labor leader’s stance, saying "it should concern all Australians that we've got such paralysis and uncertainty at a federal level... we want to negotiate a positive better outcome for education."

The Victorian Premier was pushing for control over the Federal funding distribution but has come under fire from the Opposition, who have labelled him a “coward” for insisting on more control after signing on for reforms. With Julia Gillard now removed as Prime Minister and negotiations seemingly stymied, all states will be wondering how Gonski reforms will be rolled out, now that they have been signed into law.
